St. Margaret's Boys Volleyball Takes Third at Beach City Invitational

The Tartans battled through six competitive matches to capture the bronze.
The Tartan boys volleyball program brought home third place at the 24th annual Beach City Invitational hosted by La Jolla High School on March 22-23.

On Friday evening, St. Margaret’s won two hard-fought best-of-5 matches against La Costa Canyon HS (3-1) and Vista Murrieta HS (3-0). On Saturday, the team prevailed to the semifinals beating Trabuco Hills and West Ranch (both 2-0) before facing a strong Wilson team in the semifinal.

Although the team fell to Wilson in straight sets, it bounced back to win the third-place game over a solid Westview (San Diego Section) team 2-1.

The Tartans were led on the attack throughout the tournament by Reed Wainwright, Beckett Harvey, and Luke Balint. Drew Otto won Most Valuable Libero while Harvey and Wainwright picked up All-Tournament honors.

"This was a significant endurance test, and I was pleased we were able to maintain our focus and competitive drive throughout the long tournament," said head coach Bob Yoder.
