St. Margaret's Surf Team Downs Santa Margarita 45.5-38.5
The Tartans performed well in challenging conditions.
The Tartan surf program continued its Scholastic Surf Series campaign with a 45.5-38.5 win over Santa Margarita Catholic High School this past Saturday in Huntington Beach.
St. Margaret's fought through brutal currents and big surf as Gareth Thomas, Ry O'Hill, Brendan Lyons, Ethan Lavender, Chloe Wainwright and Violet Yoshida all advanced in shortboard heats. Yoshida would top the Tartans' efforts with a 3rd place finish, while Wainwright and Lyons would finish 4th and 6th, respectively.
In the longboard events, Tyler Mears, Nick Fox and Heidi Tufo crushed their heats, advancing to the semifinal rounds. Tufo would place 6th in the event for the Tartans.
Sawyer Collins rounded out St. Margaret's scoring with a 6th place result in the bodyboard competition.
The Tartans return to competition on Saturday, March 23, at San Clemente Pier.
