Winter Dance Concert Shares Holiday Joy with the Community

The concert featured 60 dancers from both divisions, 11 solos, two duets and six Upper School advanced dance & composition honors project performances.
The Arts at St. Margaret’s presented the MS/US Winter Dance Concert in the Hurlbut Theater on Friday, Dec. 1. The concert featured 60 dancers from both divisions, 11 solos, 2 duets and six US Advanced Dance & Composition Honors Project performances.

Composition projects were choreographed by: Tori Clark, grade 11, Abbie Eubanks, grade 12, Ella Jia, grade 12, Ella Mack, grade 12, Alyssa Margason, grade 12, Tessa Maryott, grade 11, Victoria Palacio, grade 12, and Ella Pintar, grade 12.

Middle School student soloists included Laura Almeida, grade 7, Elaine Chen, grade 8, Audrey Ma, grade 7, Marlowe Michels, grade 7, Eddie Zhang, grade 7, Wanika Zhang, grade 6.

In this concert, the talented soloists from the Upper School were Elsa Gunderson, grade 12, Ella Jia, grade 12, Tessa Maryott, grade 11, Paige Minton, grade 10, and Aya Sutton, grade 9.

Audience members described the concert as energetic and many observed that the costumes the dancers wore were strikingly beautiful. The dance styles incorporated in this year’s concert included elements of jazz, lyrical, ballet, K-pop, acrobatics, and Chinese traditional dance.

This was the first time that the kick line dance for “Let It Snow” featured 24 dancers.

To help convey the holiday fun, the professional lighting also featured special holiday projections. To conclude the concert, the Tartan Dance Company performed to “Man With the Bag” before the entire cast concluded the program with “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”.
