Gabby Eifrig and Annie Weng Earn Spots in the SCGA Qualifiers

Three Tartan golf stars, Gabby Eifrig, Jessica Liu, and Annie Weng, competed on Tuesday in the CIF-SS Southern Regional Individual Golf Tournament on Tuesday at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills. They faced tough competition and to move on, they needed to finish in the top 24 of 106 of the best golfers in the southern region of CIF-SS. In the end, an excellent score of even par was necessary to qualify. Jessica Liu fell short of that score with a still impressive 79 (+5), placing her in 42nd place and within the top half of the field. Annie Weng's 74 (+0) was low enough to earn her a spot at the SCGA Qualifier. Weng sunk a clutch and exciting 15+ foot putt on her 17th hole to bring her within qualifying range. Gabby Eifrig absolutely tore up the course with a 71 (-3), good enough for a highly impressive finish of 4th place overall. In short, St. Margaret's was well represented at the tournament by the outstanding play of its star players. The Tartans will take on the best of CIF-SS division 2 in team tournament play on October 30th at River Ridge Golf Course, and on November 2nd, Annie and Gabby will look to earn spots to the SCGA at the CIF-SS Individual Championship at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon. Gabby became the second Tartan ever to play in the SCGA last year, and if Annie earns a place this year, she would become the third.
