Tartans Cruise Past Sea Kings 17-7

The Tartan boys lacrosse program turned away a scrappy Corona del Mar squad with a convincing 17-7 win in the CIF-SS Div. I boys lacrosse quarterfinal Friday night on Tartan Field. St. Margaret's opened the scoring early and often and was in control for most of the evening.

Austin Hicks turned in another dominating performance, leading all scorers with 5 goals on the night. Johnny Iavarone (3g), Brody Booen (3g) and Connor McKenna (2g, 1a) followed closely behind and kept the Tartan offense humming. Reece Ballard, Caswell Friedman, Alex Trikas and Carson Barber all notched a goal in the win. Barber also contributed a team-high 3 assists. 

"It was a great win tonight, especially after bowing out in the first round last year," said senior and Duke University commit Austin Hicks. "This will build some huge momentum for us going forward."

Defensively, Caswell Friedman caused 3 turnovers and picked up 3 ground balls, while Alex Trikas won 48% of face-offs and picked up 5 ground balls. Adam Horcasitas collected 3 ground balls to keep the Tartans in front. Goaltender Eben O'Brien made 10 stops, frustrating the Sea King attack.

The Tartans will move on to the Div. I semi-final, facing 14-3 Mater Dei at Mater Dei on Tuesday, May 7.
