Upper School orchestra students demonstrated their musical skills and allowed the younger Tartans to try out a variety of instruments during a fun cross-divisional show-and-tell.
With wide-eyed St. Margaret’s Preschool students looking on, Upper School orchestra students demonstrated their musical skills, then allowed the younger Tartans to try out a variety of instruments during a fun cross-divisional show-and-tell.
The older students played a few songs for the Preschool students, then allowed the preschoolers to touch and try a variety of string, woodwind and percussion instruments. The orchestra room was full of musical notes, laughter and excitement as students tried out more than 10 instruments under the watchful eye of the Upper School musicians.
Orchestra students, led by orchestra director Gene Wie, visit several local preschools throughout the school year to perform music and allow younger students to try the instruments. The purpose of the program is to mentor younger students and foster an interest in performing arts.
