PTF Parent Up Speaker Series Spotlights Health and Wellness in 2018-2019

As the school advances its strategic priority to nurture the health and wellness of students, event organizers envisioned Parent Up as an ideal way to further fulfill that initiative.
The Parent Up Speaker Series has long been an important Parent Teacher Fellowship program, a way to align school philosophy with parent education through a lineup of accomplished speakers.

Each year, the PTF works with school leaders to identify engaging presenters with insights that could benefit parents. The program is generously funded through the PTF Grant Enrichment Program.

As the school advances its strategic priority to nurture the health and wellness of students, event organizers—led by PTF President Jill Golubow, PTF Parent Up Series Chair Katie Kalvoda and Assistant Head of School for Strategic Initiatives Ryan Dahlem—envisioned Parent Up as an ideal way to further fulfill that initiative.

“St. Margaret’s parents are determined to raise healthy, happy and successful children, and we view the Parent Up Speaker Series as a way to provide insight and takeaways to help accomplish that,” Mrs. Golubow said. “This year’s lineup is terrific. We have three experts in their field coming to St. Margaret’s to educate parents on a number of issues that are of great interest to our community and the well-being of our children. We are looking forward to hearing their perspectives on these important topics.”

Those topics include technology, sleep habits and mental health, how each issue can affect children, and how parents can help.

“Student health and wellness has many dimensions and requires a multifaceted approach,” Mr. Dahlem said. “The lineup of experts in this year’s PTF Parent Up Series adds several powerful layers to our strategic work on this topic. We are so grateful for our partnership with the PTF and their generous support of this important initiative.”
