Tartan Cross Country Hits Mid-Season Stride

The Tartan cross country programs are at the top of the league standings as the season ramps up.
Both cross country teams remain in control of the Academy League standings following another stellar performance at the second league meet on Tuesday, October 9.

The very hilly 2.1-mile course at St. Michael’s Prep in Silverado Canyon proved to be a challenge, but both teams went out hard in the first 400 meters with the intention of controlling the pack.

“We wanted to control the pace after having just raced on Saturday at the Clovis Invitational and given the difficulty of the course. Both teams did an excellent job establishing position and securing the win in a controlled effort,” said coach Patrick Bendzick.

Jackson Adelman was the race winner on the boys side, leading the team after missing the first league meet due to an injury. The Tartans finished 1-3-4-5-7 for the decisive 32-point victory over second place Sage Hill.

On the girls side, it was the return of Andi Carnell to the forefront as she ran away with the race from the start. She gaped the field by almost a minute and led the Tartans to an 18-point victory.

The JV team raced on Friday, October 11 at the Orange County Championships, while the Varsity squad prepares for the Mt. SAC Invitational on October 19th.
