Tartans Top Santa Fe Christian 30-14

St. Margaret's completed its non-league season with a 6-1 record.
The Tartans traveled to Solana Beach to round out a 6-1 non-league campaign to face off against Santa Fe Christian Friday afternoon. Despite a scoreless first quarter, the Tartans turned in an impressive effort, coming away with the 30-14 victory.
 
The Tartan defense has only allowed three touchdowns over the past three games, stifling opposing offenses with an experienced secondary and linebacking corps. Against the Eagles, St. Margaret's was led by Jack Young's four tackles, four assists and one sack. Koa Todd and Cooper Barkate combined for ten tackles, while defensive back Alex Smith had three tackles, three assists and one interception.
 
Offensively, quarterback James Mott was 19/27, throwing for 248 yards and three touchdowns. Alex Smith had four catches for 81 yards and two touchdowns followed closely by Will Kenner with six receptions for 91 yards and one touchdown. Koa Todd shouldered most of the running back duties due to Alex Lanham's injury, with eight carries for 109 yards and one touchdown. Matt Stevenson contributed eight carries for 69 yards in the Win.
 
Kicker Chris Vartanian knocked in his lone field goal attempt on the afternoon and notched three of four successful point after attempts.
 
St. Margaret's will begin league play in the San Joaquin League on Friday, October 12 on Tartan Field against Southlands Christian. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
