Three faculty members presented on St. Margaret’s innovative STEAM programs to a large gathering at the International Society for Technology in Education conference this summer in Chicago.

Director of Library and Digital Literacy Angela Mackenzie, Director of Technology and Innovation Lynn Ozonian, and Lower School visual arts teacher Mary Mayer-Grubb all attended and gave insight into St. Margaret’s curriculum and various units during their presentations.

Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Mayer-Grubb led a presentation titled “Turning Water into STEAM: Where Inquiry Meets Design Thinking” about St. Margaret’s grade 5 STEAM block and the home water consumption project. The presentation was voted in the top 10 most notable poster presentations out of more than 500 entries.

Mrs. Ozonian and Mrs. Mackenzie also presented “Imagine, Code, Engineer: Coding Through the K-12 Curriculum,” sharing St. Margaret’s computer-science program and how coding is implemented across all divisions.

“It’s always exciting to see educators interested and intrigued by what we do at St. Margaret’s,” Mrs. Mackenzie said.
