Alex Smith Tabbed as All-CIF in Baseball

Tartan catcher Alex Smith's offensive production earned him an All-CIF nod for the 2018 season.
Rising senior Alex Smith has been named All-CIF in Division V baseball as selected by the CIF-SS Baseball Coaches Association. Smith, a catcher for the Tartans, led St. Margaret's in just about every offensive category during the 2018 season. Smith hit .559 with a .659 on-base percentage and led the Tartans in hits, doubles, RBI's and hit by pitches. Defensively, Smith threw out more than 60 percent of runners and was nominated as the best catcher in the Academy League.

Head coach Scott Wallis remarked, "Alex was a leader in every sense for the Tartan baseball team this year. Not only did he lead by example day in and day out, but he also led in just about every offensive category. All-CIF is a fitting recognition of his dominance on the field for the Tartans this year."
