Trio of Tartan Seniors Sign NCAA Commitments

R.J. Egdorf, Ellie Jones and Kaitlin Kao will study and compete at the highest levels next year.
St. Margaret's Episcopal School is pleased to announce that seniors R.J. Egdorf (Santa Clara University), Ellie Jones (Kenyon College) and Kaitlin Kao (University of California, Los Angeles) have committed to play intercollegiate athletics and continue their academic careers.

R.J., Ellie and Kaitlin join 15 classmates from the Class of 2018 who committed during the fall, winter and spring signing periods.

R.J. Egdorf, Santa Clara University

R.J. Egdorf will study and play soccer at NCAA Division-I Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, Calif.

R.J., a member of the 2014 CIF State Champion Tartan boys soccer team, notched 18 goals and 21 assists during the 2017-2018 Academy League campaign. A four-year starter, R.J. helped lead the Tartans to the playoffs each year of his high school career and was a member of the All-Academy League First Team in the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 seasons.

R.J. volunteers his time at Brookdale Senior Living in San Juan Capistrano.

R.J. intends to major in economics at the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara.

Ellie Jones, Kenyon College

Ellie Jones will study and play lacrosse at NCAA Division-III Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.

Ellie, the starting goaltender for the 2018 U.S. Lacrosse Southern Section Champion Tartans, was named MVP of the Southern Section title game.

Ellie has also been a four-year member of the basketball team at St. Margaret's.

Ellie has volunteered her time participating in a St. Margaret's community service trip to a Navajo reservation on the Arizona/Utah border . Ellie was also instrumental in organizing a school safety "Walk In" in March.

Ellie plans on majoring in English at Kenyon.

Kaitlin Kao, University of California, Los Angeles

Kaitlin Kao will study and play volleyball at NCAA Division-I UCLA in Los Angeles.

Kaitlin has been a four-year varsity player at St. Margaret's and 2017 team captain. Kaitlin was named to the 2017 All-Academy League First Team for her efforts during her senior season.

At the club level, Kaitlin has competed for the nationally ranked No. 10 Gold Division SCVA team.

Kaitlin has volunteered at the Mariners Church resource center, Breakthrough San Juan Capistrano and St. Margaret's youth volleyball camps.

Kaitlin plans to major in business economics at UCLA.
