Both Tartan lacrosse programs enjoyed tremendous 2018 seasons, with the girls capturing the
Southern Section Championship and the boys finishing as
Orange County Champions. U.S. Lacrosse has recognized St. Margaret's athletes as being among the best in the Orange County area.
Young, Groeninger Named Players of the Year Senior Cailin Young, also named an All-American and member of the All-County First Team, notched 64 goals, 26 assists, 113 draw controls, 43 groundballs and 18 takeaways in the 2018 campaign. Young, who will play for NCAA Div. I San Diego State University next spring, was also named the MVP of the U.S. Lacrosse Orange County Playoffs, with 12 goals and one assist over four games.
Junior Kevin Groeninger, also named an All-American and member of the All-County First Team, powered the Tartan offense with 64 goals and 63 assists on the year.
Reilly Named Coach of the Year Girls Head Coach Holly Reilly, who joined St. Margaret's in 2014, led the Tartans to an 18-1 record in 2018 and the first U.S. Lacrosse Southern Section Championship since 2008. Reilly, a product of Princeton University, has also played professionally for the Boston Storm and was a
USWLX All-Star in 2016. All-Americans Senior Andrew Maita and Junior Maddie Barkate join Cailin Young and Kevin Groeninger on the U.S. Lacrosse All-American list. Michael Chew, Andy Shin and Emily Suh earned All-Academic Team honors.
