Kenyan Boys Choir Performs at St. Margaret’s Chapel

St. Margaret’s connected with the Kenyan Boys Choir through WE, a global organization that strives to create positive social change.
Last week’s Upper School and Middle School Chapels featured moving musical performances by special guests from the Kenyan Boys Choir.

The choir, an ensemble of musicians from high schools and colleges in Kenya, is dedicated to creating world-class music while imparting life principles of discipline, hard work, perseverance, persistence and determination.

St. Margaret’s connected with the Kenyan Boys Choir through WE, a global organization that strives to create positive social change. St. Margaret’s sponsors a WE Club in the Middle School, and two Upper School courses incorporate a service-learning component through WE.

Because of St. Margaret’s involvement, WE organizers reached out and offered to have the Kenyan Boys Choir perform at St. Margaret’s ahead of its appearance at WE Day in Los Angeles this week.

“It was an honor to have the Kenyan Boys Choir perform here at St. Margaret’s,” Middle School Assistant Principal Mike Allison said. “Beyond being incredibly talented, this is a group of young men who are a wonderful example of humility, gratitude and what good can come when a group of people work together to follow their passions.”

The choir became internationally known in 2009 after performing at the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama.
