Ms. Wallace-Phelps began her career at St. Margaret’s in 1999, and has since been a beloved member of the church and school community. Among her many duties as parish administrator, she led the organization of events, maintained calendars, assisted in the work of St. Margaret’s chaplains, and coordinated school Chapel services.
“She did all that so well, but she was also a wonderful point of contact for outsiders, who were greeted in person or on the phone with warmth, kindness and grace,” said St. Margaret’s Church Rector and Head of Chaplains The Reverend Canon Robert Edwards.
On Thursday, Ms. Wallace-Phelps was honored at all three school Chapel services. The Lower School sang a beautiful rendition of "A Clare Benediction" in her honor. The Upper School chapel featured touching words from Principal Tony Jordan, history teacher and student acolyte coordinator Rocky Parker and Director of Community Life Lora Allison. The Middle School gave her a standing ovation as she was presented with a retirement gift, following words from The Reverend Father Earl Gibson on Ms. Wallace-Phelps’ lasting impact in the St. Margaret’s community.
