St. Margaret’s Jeneen Graham Presents on Independent School Research at NAIS Annual Conference

Dr. Graham led a workshop for independent school leaders looking to bring more data and research into their decision-making.

St. Margaret’s Academic Dean Jeneen Graham presented at the National Association of Independent Schools’ Annual Conference in Atlanta, teaming with Jennifer de Forest, associate director for the California Association of Independent Schools, in a workshop titled “Better Understand How Well You Meet Your Mission: Calling All (Aspiring) Independent School Researchers.”

The two shared their data-driven approach to decision-making, helping attendees understand “how a good question” and access to data can change the conversation at a school.

“I think people are hungry for ways to extract useful information from data, and that was what we shared,” Dr. Graham said. “We tried to empower everyone in the room to be an institutional researcher.”

Dr. Graham oversees database development and data analysis at St. Margaret’s. She recently wrote a story in the Winter 2018 Highlander Magazine titled “Measuring What Matters at St. Margaret’s,” which detailed several different ways St. Margaret’s quantifies hard-to-measure attributes of its students and faculty.

The NAIS Annual Conference is a three-day event featuring workshops, speakers and special events, attended by thousands of independent school educators from across the U.S.
