Tartan Classic Basketball Tournament Wraps Up This Weekend

The week-long tournament marks the second year for the annual classic.
After a week of exciting basketball, the Tartan Classic will culminate with the championship round this Saturday, December 9 in the Pasternack Field House. The Tartans defeated Norte Vista, 75-46, in the tournament's first round before running up against a talented Mission Viejo squad, losing 59-38. The Tartans were led by Jay Phansalkar's 16 points in the Norte Vista win. Will Kenner and Jack Wohlgemuth have averaged 13.5 and 9 points respectively for St. Margaret's in the tournament.

The Tartans will face Brea High school on Friday, December 8 at 3:30 p.m. The winner of that game will face the winner of Tustin vs. Sage Hill School.

Game Schedule for Friday:

3:30 p.m. - St. Margaret’s vs. Brea
5:00 p.m. - Tustin vs. Sage Hill School
6:30 p.m. - San Juan Hills vs. University
8:00 p.m. - Newport Harbor vs. Mission Viejo

Championship Saturday:

Tournament play continues at Noon, with games tipping off every hour and a half.

6:00 p.m. - Third place game
7:30 p.m. – Championship Game

All games are in the Pasternack Field House and admission is free.
