Tartan Girls Golf Team Ends Memorable Season

Tartan golfers enjoyed a season of firsts on the links.
The Tartan girls golf season ended earlier this month with several firsts in school history. Senior Captain Marissa Mitchell had the first eagle on a par-4 in school history during the match against Whitney. On the fifth hole at Bella Collina, Marissa hit a drive to 70 yards from the pin and sunk her second shot for eagle. During that same match, Bella Blount recorded her first two birdies of the season in the same round. Christina Zhao was the match medalist in the loss to Whitney.

As the season drew to a close, four Tartans had the opportunity to play for individual Academy League honors. Senior Marissa Mitchell, junior Natalie Yee and freshmen Amy Meng and Christina Zhao attended the league prelims held at San Clemente Municipal Golf Course with 24 league golfers vying for seven individual CIF-SS playoff spots. From the field, only Marissa Mitchell advanced to the league final following the cut. Christina Zhao earned Honorable Mention All-Academy League.

Marissa played extremely well in the league finals at the Navy Course at Los Alamitos shooting a four-over par round of 40 on the back nine. Marissa, a team captain the last two years, capped an excellent high school career earning Second Team All-Academy League honors.
