Tartan Cross Country Athletes Recognized Among Top Runners in State

Senior Matt Soto, junior Andi Carnell and sophomore Charlotte Jones are listed as top athletes in California.
Cross country athletes Matt Soto (12), Andi Carnell (6) and Charlotte Jones (12) have been recognized by prepcaltrack.com in the CIF-State Division V individual rankings released on Oct. 19. The rankings are based on the best qualitative efforts by all runners.

Soto, Carnell and Jones have led the Tartans to solid results this fall, with the boy's team ranked No. 6 and girls team ranked No. 9 in California. Making a push towards the postseason, both teams will attempt to secure Academy League titles on Oct. 31 and then advance to the CIF Championships the following weekend.

"The tremendous front-running displayed by Matt Soto, Andi Carnell and Charlotte Jones has been an incredible asset. Although their talent is unquestionable, it is their leadership that has been the catalyst for our team success. All three are remarkable role models and always put the needs of their teammates first. I am very fortunate to get the honor of working with them each day,” said Head Coach and Director of Athletics and Physical Education Patrick Bendzick.

The Tartans will take on the Riverside Invitational this Saturday at the Riverside Sports Complex.
