Summer Campus Construction Update: Exciting Projects Coming Next Year!

An update on the summer construction projects that are scheduled to be completed before the first day of the 2017-2018 school year.
The school year has just concluded, and the campus improvements for next school year are already beginning! Announced in March, St. Margaret’s will begin construction on the new Visual Arts Center in the Gateway Building. The building will be closed during construction, which is expected through August. Gateway offices will temporarily relocate through the summer, and the Library will be closed. The Admissions Office will temporary be housed in the Middle School main office. The new Visual Arts Center, along with the Library and administrative offices, are scheduled to open on the first day of the 2017-2018 school year.

Additionally, the school is commencing phase one of a multiphase remodeling project of the Upper School campus to include new technologies, classroom environments, furnishings and common spaces. This summer, all humanities and math classrooms will be renovated with new flooring, ceilings, and importantly, IT infrastructure upgrades to support phase-two classroom technology upgrades. A new student activities center will be created adjacent to the Tartan Courtyard. These improvements allow for new technology and classroom furnishings to be added, as well as exterior landscape and common space improvements. While the main Upper School office will be open on the second floor, the campus will have limited access due to construction.

Construction to reconfigure and expand the Upper School student parking area in the Ortega Business Center will also begin immediately. This project will dramatically improve traffic and pedestrian safety, flow and access to the lot, and importantly adds 43 parking spaces. This project will be completed for the first day of school, as well.

All school offices will remain open during construction activities, with Admission, Upper School, and Head of School offices moving to temporary locations. For these offices, we encourage parents to contact employees in advance to coordinate a visit or meeting.

If you are participating in a summer program on campus, the program coordinator will communicate any specific access directions, including drop-off, pick-up and parking.

We are excited to begin these important campus improvement projects that will enrich the daily educational experience of our students, and we appreciate your attention and patience through construction.
