Presenting the Class of 2017, Headed to Colleges Around the World

On Saturday, 111 seniors of the Class of 2017 will receive their St. Margaret’s Episcopal School diplomas ready to enter colleges and universities coast to coast and around the world.

 

In all, students will head to 58 schools in 20 states and Washington, D.C., as well as universities in Australia and Scotland.

 

The college choices include Barnard College, Boston College, California Institute of Technology, Dartmouth College, Drexel University, Emory University, Fordham University, Harvard University, Indiana University at Bloomington, New York University, Northwestern University, Princeton University, Santa Clara University, Stanford University, Swarthmore College, University of California, Berkeley, University of California, Los Angeles, University of Chicago, University of Colorado at Boulder, University of Michigan, University of Notre Dame and University of Oregon.

 

The class of 2017 will also extend St. Margaret’s profile, with 11 graduates heading to colleges where no Tartan alumni currently attends. That includes Belmont University, Berklee College of Music, Colorado College, Hult International Business School, Manhattan School of Music, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University of Richmond, Stevens Institute of Technology, United States Military Academy at West Point, University of Edinburgh and University of Sydney.

Conversely, 21 schools across the country will receive multiple Tartans from the Class of 2017. Topping that list are University of Southern California (13), followed by Chapman University (7), University of California, Santa Barbara (5), University of Notre Dame (4), University of Chicago (4), University of Colorado at Boulder (4), University of California, Berkeley (4), Boston College (3), Emory University (3), Loyola Marymount University (3), University of California, Los Angeles (3) and University of California, Santa Cruz (3).

"These students were thoughtful and adventurous as they found colleges that fit with their goals and values," said Director of College Counseling Roland Allen. "On behalf of my colleagues in the college counseling office, Amy Warren and Jeff Jablonski, we are extremely proud of them and wish them success and happiness in the next step of their personal journey."
