Students in grades 1-3 brought to life the Disney animated film The Aristocats, as three casts put on a total of nine performances last week in the McGregor Family Theater.
The red, blue and green casts featured a total of 111 Lower School students. In addition, 25 Middle School and Upper School volunteered to oversee tech, video, makeup and hair—helping make the production a cross-divisional success.
“The tangible benefits of educational theater are well documented,” said Director of the Arts Darcy Rice, who directed this musical. “Children who participate in theater do better in reading, math and memory work. Public speaking skills, increased confidence and kinesthetic development are natural byproducts of the rehearsal and performance process. Perhaps even more important is the joy and satisfaction children experience through being a part of a successful production.”
