Tartans Receive 16 CAPPIES Nominations, Including Best Play

The students were nominated for lighting, costumes, stage management, acting and vocals for their work in “Boeing Boeing,” which is nominated for Best Play, and “Children of Eden.”
St. Margaret’s Upper School students have been nominated in 16 categories in the Orange County CAPPIES for the 2016-2017 theater season.

The students were nominated for lighting, costumes, stage management, acting and vocals for their work in “Boeing Boeing,” which is nominated for Best Play, and “Children of Eden.” Performances from 31 schools were considered.

The CAPPIES is a national writing and awards program sponsored by the Orange County Department of Education. Its goal is to promote and recognize excellence in writing, performance, design and technical disciplines. High school theater and journalism students are trained to attend and constructively critique local high school productions. Local newspapers like the Orange County Register publish the top reviews, and toward the end of the school year more than 200 student critics vote on the reviewed shows.

Winners will be announced at the black-tie CAPPIES gala, which will take place Sunday, May 21 at 6 p.m. at The Grove in Anaheim.
