In a ceremony during Upper School convocation last week, St. Margaret’s senior Cameron Manor was officially appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

The appointment was made by Tom Orr on behalf of the President of the United States. Mr. Orr, a West Point grad, spoke to the Upper School students about the sacrifices Cameron will make when she departs for New York this summer to take part in Cadet Basic Training. He noted that Cameron is permitted just two phone calls during the 6-week CBT, but cadets are uplifted by written letters from friends and family back home.

Mr. Orr also encouraged Cameron’s classmates to help her prepare for the physical challenges of CBT by working out with her and providing moral support.

Cameron committed to West Point as a junior and plans to play lacrosse for the Army Black Knights, a Division-I program that competes in the Patriot League. She intends to major in pre-med or military intelligence at West Point.
