St. Margaret's Equestrian Team Closes Out IEL Season This Weekend

Rain has kept the Tartan riders sidelined, but the team looks to finish strong at this weekend's Interscholastic Equestrian League Final.
A rainy winter has wrecked havoc on the Interscholastic Equestrian League's schedule with February's events canceled due to poor conditions. With clear skies forecasted for most of this upcoming weekend, the Tartans are excited to get back in the saddle.

At January's IEL event, the Tartan team was named Overall Champion in the novice division. On Saturday, January 28, Maddie Edwards rode to Novice Reserve Champion, placed second in Equitation Over Fences, third in Hunters and the OCIEL Medal and finished fourth in Under Saddle and Equitation Flat. Whitney Riley earned fourth in Equitation O/F and fifth in U/S. Delaney Frost was second in Equitation Flat and sixth in U/S.

In the freshman division, Grace Guisto was Overall Champion while riding to first in U/S and Equitation Flat and second in Equitation O/F, Hunters and OCIEL Medal.

In the junior varsity and varsity divisions, Elika Miller earned junior varsity second in Equitation O/F, fourth in Hunters and U/S, fifth in OCIEL Medal and eighth in Equitation Flat. Madison Golledge rode to third in Equitation Flat and OCIEL Medal and fourth in Equitation O/F and Hunters in the varsity division.

On Sunday, January 29, Maddie Edwards was named Novice Reserve Champion while Whitney Riley rode to Champion, first in U/S and Equitation Flat, second in Hunters and third in OCIEL Medal and Equitation O/F. Delaney Frost earned sixth in Equitation Flat and seventh in U/S in the novice division.

In freshman competition, Grace Guisto was Reserve Champion while earning first in U/S and Equitation Flat, second in Hunters and third in OCIEL Medal and Equitation O/F.

At the junior varsity level, Elika Miller took first in Hunters, second in Equitation O/F, fifth in OCIEL Medal and eighth in Hunters and Equitation Flat.

Madison Golledge was first in OCIEL Medal, second in Equitation Flat and Equitation O/F and fourth in Hunters at the varsity level.

The Tartans will take on the season's final IEL event this weekend, March 4 - 5, at Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park in San Juan Capistrano.
