St. Margaret's Varsity Soccer Programs Sweep Sage Hill

The boys and girls varsity soccer programs both defeated Sage Hill in Academy League action last night.
The Tartan soccer teams cemented their league standings with victories against rival Sage Hill on Thursday evening. The boys, led by junior Trevor Peavy's two goals, defeated the Lightning 2-1 to bring the Tartans to 4-0-1 in the Academy League. St. Margaret's led 2-0 as the game drew to a close, but not before Sage Hill could capitalize on a late penalty kick to avoid the shutout.

On the road, the girls battled the Lighting to a 0-0 tie at the half before rattling off five goals in quick succession. Led by freshman outside back Charlotte Jones' two goals, the Tartans were also supported by Juliet Ballard (1g, 1a), Blake Crawley (1g) and Lauren Otterbein (1g). Lauren McCaffrey notched two assists while Indigo Agan and Audrey Larson contributed one assist each. The Tartans remain tied for first in the Academy League with the 5-1 win over Sage Hill.

Head girls coach Johnny Marmelstein said, "After being tied 0-0 at the half, I wouldn't have believed that a rivalry game would have ended in a 5-1 win. Our senior captains, Blake Crawley, Anne Otterbein and Kate Ramm, led by example and were at their finest this evening."
