Alumnus Mitch Marmelstein Makes Professional Basketball Debut

Mitch Marmelstein, Class of 2011, plays for the San Diego Surf of the American Basketball Association.
Mitch Marmelstein, Class of 2011, made his professional basketball debut on November 13, playing for the San Diego Surf. Marmelstein led all scorers with 28 points in the loss to the Orange County Novastars.

After leaving St. Margaret's, Marmelstein attended Grove City College in Grove City, Pa. Marmelstein became the 26th player in Grove City College history to score 1,000 points in a career in 2015.

The San Diego Surf competes in the American Basketball Association which counted teams such as the San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers and New Jersey Nets among its ranks before merging with the National Basketball Association in the mid-'70s.
