During the ceremony, Mr. Moseley took the opportunity to recognize the facilities and construction, and buildings and grounds crew: “I am particularly thankful for Mr. Bush, Mr. Jonovich, Mr. Barriga and their team for their hard work on our campus this summer. With the various renovations and the addition of the new Middle School and renovated Highlands and Chalmers Field, our campus is more beautiful than ever!”

After a standing ovation for those recognized, Mr. Moseley presented the goals for the 2015-2016 school year: “The start of each and every new school year provides us all with an opportunity to contribute to the future growth and success of St. Margaret’s Episcopal School. To make our own contributions and sacrifices to pay it forward.

“For this year, we have three school-wide goals in line with our mission to educate the hearts and minds of young people for lives of learning, leadership and service.

“I share our goals for the 2015-2016 school year:

“Goal #1 – under the category of Learning: Finalize and implement our strategic plan (supported by parent and alumni survey data and meetings with faculty/staff and students and based on our mission statement and core values).

“Goal #2 – under the category of Leadership: Build the essential life skills of cultural competency.

“Goal #3 – under the category of Service: Increase service learning and community building opportunities for our faculty, staff, students, parents and alumni.

“Albert Einstein said, ‘Only a life lived in the service to others is worth living.’

“I wrote to our community this summer and focused on the importance of LOVE.

“I shared what I think makes St. Margaret’s a uniquely transformational place for every member of our community.

“Inspired and guided by our Episcopal identity, it is our ability to love each other that provides the spiritual and moral compass, the safety and the nurture to allow our children and each other to explore, to try, to persevere, to thrive and to soar.

“I believe it is our commitment to love that truly sets St. Margaret’s apart.”

Mr. Moseley introduced Associated Student Body President David Larsen who talked about the strength and support of the St. Margaret’s community, discovering who you really are and not being afraid to meet new people and try new things (click here to read David’s speech).

The annual ceremony concluded with the community singing the alma mater, with gusto.
