"We are proud and honored to have Cailin Young and Megan Vandenberg represent St. Margaret’s lacrosse on the Orange County National Tournament Team. Cailin and Megan are diligent, responsive and intelligent players. Both young women invest their energies in improving weaknesses in their game. Cailin brings strength through the midfield possessing draw controls and transitioning the ball with good decisions up field. Megan is a workhorse on defense using strong body positioning and vision to thwart opposing offenses," said St. Margaret's Head Coach and U.S. Lacrosse Orange County Chapter Chair Holly Reilly.

Young and Vandenburg participated in the invite-only tryout along with 69 local high school lacrosse players, nominated by their respective coaches. The evaluation team, which included St. Margaret's alumna Lauren Ciccomascolo, Class of 2008, noted player's stick work, decision making and defensive footwork and communication.

Reilly added, "The National Tournament Team tryout pool is extremely competitive. We congratulate Cailin, Megan, and all the tryout participants on taking a risk to attend tryouts. We wish the team the best of luck in May!"

With nearly 70 teams from across the country competing annually, the National Tournament has become one of the nation's marquee college recruiting events for high school players.
