PHOTOS: Lower School Welcomes Loved Ones for Grandparents and Special Friends Day

The day serves as an opportunity for loved ones to see the Lower School first-hand and for students to provide a glimpse of their everyday at St. Margaret’s.
St. Margaret’s welcomed more than 400 loved ones to campus last week, as students performed songs, shared their Tartan experience and spent quality time with special people during the Lower School’s annual Grandparents and Special Friends Day.

The day serves as an opportunity for loved ones to see the Lower School first-hand and for students to provide a glimpse of their everyday at St. Margaret’s.

With the theme “Rocking Through the Ages,” the morning started with breakfast and a Chapel service in Pasternack Field House, featuring many Lower School students reading prayers, offering reflections, and performing songs that span decades of popular music, from kindergarten students performing “Jailhouse Rock” from the 1950s to the grades 4 and 5 choir, band and orchestra  performing medleys from the 1990s and 2000s.

The service also featured remarks from Head of School Will Moseley and Lower School Principal Jennifer Blount.

Afterward, guests visited their student’s classroom to meet teachers and friends and view some of the projects students worked on throughout the school year.

The event was organized by Lower School professional community, chaplains and the Advancement Office, with help from more than 50 parent volunteers. Thank you to the grandparents and special friends for your love and support, and thank you to everyone who helped make this special day possible!
