ES Director Cris Lozon Shares Expertise at Early-Childhood Education Conferences

Dr. Lozon shared St. Margaret’s philosophy toward its youngest learners and her expertise in the research behind play-based learning.
St. Margaret’s Early Childhood School Director Cris Lozon recently presented at two different early-childhood education events, sharing St. Margaret’s philosophy toward its younger learners and her expertise in the research behind play-based learning.

Dr. Lozon was the keynote speaker at the Early Childhood Directors Conference, which took place last weekend at Saddleback College. The conference was well-attended by early-childhood educators from around Orange County, as Dr. Lozon shared more about St. Margaret’s Mission and the research-based program of the Early Childhood School.

Earlier in April, Dr. Lozon presented during an online webinar by the National Association of Episcopal Schools, titled “Developing an Understanding of Young Children’s Learning Through Play.”

Dr. Lozon’s presentations were shared with more than 100 early-childhood educators and directors.

“Both presentations were based on our model of an academically vigorous program in early childhood that is intrinsically motivated by the children’s need to understand how their world works,” Dr. Lozon said.

Dr. Lozon is a frequent presenter at national conferences on St. Margaret’s early-childhood education philosophy, which emphasizes the arts, literacy, science and math in a play-based, research-based program that aligns closely with constructivism and the renowned Reggio Emilia approach to early-childhood education.
