Tartan Girls Lacrosse Dethrones Monarchs 12-9

St. Margaret's relied on a solid defensive effort to down Mater Dei Thursday.
St. Margaret's girls lacrosse program picked up a big early-season win Thursday, defeating Mater Dei 12-9 on the road.
 
The Tartans capitalized on a 9-3 lead at the half and kept the Monarchs at bay through stellar defensive play and solid net minding by goalkeeper Kaitlin McRae (13 saves, 1 caused turnover) to secure the win.
 
Lauren Lam led with 4 goals, 3 assists and Minka Martinez added 3 goals and 2 assists. Scarlett Welsome contributed 2 goals with Grace Burke, Claire Cho and Caroline Gunderson tallying 1 goal each.
 
The 4-1 Tartans take on Murrieta Mesa on Saturday, March 18, at 11 a.m. on Tartan Field.
