Ms. Yoshizawa presented alongside Sherri Peterson from the University of Northern Iowa in a session titled “Exploring Light and Shadow With Infants and Toddlers” which explained how concepts of light and shadow can provide educators with opportunities to discover what young children are naturally drawn to investigate during play in an inquiry-based environment.

In addition to Ms. Yoshizawa’s presentation, four St. Margaret’s Early School teachers traveled to Santa Monica to attend the conference—Hope Petrozzi, Sharon Benedetto, Erika Garcia and Debbie Greisman.

ECSTEM is designed to provide continuing education, professional development and sharing of research to better understand the needs of early childhood leaners in regards to STEAM.
