Tartans Down Seahawks 56-36 in CIF Girls Basketball Second Round
St. Margaret's continued its quest for a postseason title.
St. Margaret's girls basketball program continued its journey for a CIF championship this past Saturday, defeating Ocean View High School 56-36 in the CIF-SS Div. 5AA second round. Defense was at the forefront for the Tartans, as they notched 18 steals and 30 forced turnovers in the win.
Lila Wohlgemuth again led the way for St. Margaret's with 12 points., 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 three-pointers. Annika Tufo contributed 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks, while Harper Gideons and Sophia Gazzaniga had 10 points and 9 rebounds, respectively.
"I am proud of our team for being able to go on the road and keep their composure in a challenging environment," said head coach Josh Markum. "I think we reached another level of maturity on Saturday night that will help us as we move forward in the playoffs."
The Tartans face Immaculate Heart in the Quarterfinal round at home on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 6 p.m.
