Tartan Surf Tops Eagles 46-40 in San Clemente

St. Margaret's surf program picked up a win against Santa Margarita Sunday.
The Tartan surf program defeated Santa Margarita 46-40 on Feb. 5 at the San Clemente pier. Conditions for the meet favored the competitors with glassy 4-5 foot swells.
 
Tartan athletes Caleb Beadel, Michael Cuda, Charlie Denham, Miles Eaton, Minka Martinez, Ry O Hill, and Audrey Weiss dominated the shortboard heats, with Cuda, Denham, Martinez and O Hill advancing to the semifinals after demonstrating speed, power and control with their variety of maneuvers. In addition, Logan Cuda made his co-ed bodyboard debut, notching a third-place finish. 
 
In the longboard competition, Michael Cuda, Ross Johnson, Braeden Nock, Annika Tufo and Heidi Tufo battled through tough competition, with Cuda, Nock and A. Tufo advancing.

Charlie Denham 2nd Place - Men’s Shortboard
Minka Martinez 6th Place - Women’s Shortboard
Michael Cuda 1st Place - Men’s Longboard
Braeden Nock 4th Place - Men’s Longboard

Note: Michael Cuda’s finish secures him as the top longboarder in Orange County for the second consecutive week.
 
The Tartans will return for the final Scholastic Surf Series competition on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 9th Street, Huntington Beach.
