St. Margaret's sank Saddleback 50-16 on the road to improve to 7-1 in Orange Coast League action Thursday night.

The Tartans were led by Harper Gideons’ 21 points with 6 three-pointers made on the night. Lila Wohlgemuth chipped in 14 points with 4 three-pointers of her own. Taylor Francois, Lauren Lam, Natalie Roby, Annika Tufo and Addie West led St. Margaret's defensive efforts, creating trouble for the Roadrunners’ offensive plan and accumulating steals that directly resulted in Tartan scoring opportunities. The win marks the fourth straight game where St. Margaret's defense held an opponent to 3 points or less in the opening quarter.

The victory sets the stage for the Orange Coast League championship against Calvary Chapel Santa Ana on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 6:30 p.m. in Pasternack Field House. The CIF Div. 5AA ranked No. 1 Tartans will look to avenge an early-season loss to the Eagles.

"We have some good momentum heading into the league championship game on Tuesday against Calvary Chapel," said head coach Josh Markum. "Our defense is flying around making plays, our offense has the ball popping around, and our shooters are sticking shots. Calvary Chapel is top 25 in OC for a reason, but our girls are eager for the challenge. It will be an excellent test for us as we approach playoffs."
