Boys Basketball Clinches Postseason Spot With 67-59 Win Over Santa Ana
The Tartans' balanced play shut down a tough Saints squad.
St. Margaret's boys basketball program picked up a 67-59 league win over visiting Santa Ana High School Wednesday night. The win sets the Tartans up with a tie for first place with CC Santa Ana in the Orange Coast League and clinches a playoff berth for St. Margaret's. The Tartans needed the win, alongside Monday's win against Leuzinger at the St. John Bosco MLK Classic, to bounce back from an upset loss against Costa Mesa on Friday, Jan. 13.
The Tartans relied on balanced play to down the Saints with TJ Pavia (15 pts), Cameron Danz (14 pts), Drew Bowman (11 pts), Russel Frye (9 pts), Luke Reinkensmeyer (9 pts) and Mark Cyr (8 pts) all contributing to the win.
St. Margaret's will next face league opponent Saddleback High School at home on Friday, Jan. 20, at 6:30 p.m.
