St. Margaret’s Honors Veterans With Ceremonies, Presentations and Service

St. Margaret’s commemorated Veterans Day and honored the veterans in our school community and across the country.

In the Lower School, students gathered outside of the Performing Arts Center this morning, where Lower School students who are members of the Boy Scouts led a flag-raising ceremony. The ceremony featured remarks from St. Margaret’s chaplain Father Rob Edwards, music by the Highlander Chorale and the Middle School band. The welcome remarks, pledge of allegiance and closing remarks were conducted by grade 5 leadership students.
 
Veterans Day was also the culmination of a service project involving all Lower School students. Each class decorated a box filled with donated Halloween candy and wrote letters to veterans. The boxes and letters will be delivered by PTF volunteers to the VA hospital in Long Beach.
 
In the Middle School, the grade 8 class meeting took place in McGregor Family Theater, where St. Margaret’s parent and Marine Corps veteran Chris Gideons spoke to the class about his time in the military and the importance of Veterans Day.
