A St. Margaret’s delegation of administration, trustees, faculty, students, alumni and parents together attended the Pollyanna Conference, an interactive day focused on diversity, equity and inclusion.

The event, which took place last weekend at Francis Parker School in San Diego, brought together school representatives from across Southern California for in-depth conversations centered around the importance of representative hiring and retention.

Each school attending Pollyanna sent a group of community members called a POD, which represents various aspects of the school. When the conference split to conduct separate discussions by category, St. Margaret’s delegation was present at each breakout:

Trustees: Dana Sullivan, Suad Elias, Vicki Otterbein
Administrators: Jennifer Blount, Cris Lozon
Diversity Practitioners: Victor Cota
Faculty: Jamie Bunch, Linda He
Students: Emely Ceballos, Leo Kitaen
Parents: Crista Martin, Janie Yap-Bredall
Alumni: Mattingly Messina, Karen Mikhael

The goal of the Pollyanna Conference is to engage a broad and diverse community of educational leaders whose perspectives and experiences will bolster our collective efforts to identify best practices and real-world strategies solutions to support students living and leading in a diverse and global society.

St. Margaret’s has attended Pollyanna since it started in 2019.
