PTF Makes Lead Gift to St. Margaret’s for Student Commons Project

The gift was presented during the traditional Outgoing/Incoming Board Brunch event where the leadership of the PTF is formally transferred ahead of the next school year.
St. Margaret’s Parent Teacher Fellowship announced a lead gift to the school’s Student Commons project this week during the organization’s annual celebratory Outgoing/Incoming Board Brunch.

The $500,000 gift was presented to Head of School Will Moseley during the reception at San Juan Hills Golf Club by outgoing PTF President Amy Ainsworth and former PTF Presidents Jill Golubow and Dana Sullivan. The gift is a culmination of several years of fundraising and planning by the PTF, dating back to when the Student Commons project was first announced in 2019.

“This gift is made possible by PTF support both past and present,” Mrs. Ainsworth said. “We are thrilled to be able to contribute toward this important project.”

The Student Commons will be a state-of-the-art building that aligns with schoolwide priorities of community, student health and wellness. Sitting between the Upper School and Middle School, the Commons will feature a from-scratch kitchen, a dining hall, and a modern strength and performance center.

“We are so thankful for this extraordinary gift, as well as the ongoing love and support of the PTF toward St. Margaret’s and its students,” Mr. Moseley said. “This gift comes at a time when the school is starting to reignite the Student Commons project. We are grateful for this significant contribution toward an initiative that will benefit every Tartan in so many ways.”

The gift was part of the traditional event where the leadership of the PTF is formally transferred ahead of the next school year. The 2021-2022 board, led by Mrs. Ainsworth, were recognized for their extraordinary efforts in building community, raising funds and supporting the school in many ways during this school year. With many events, like Forever Plaid: We’re Still Cookin’ and the 40th Annual Library Luncheon: HERstory, and programs, like the PTF Parent Up Speaker Series and the PTF Hot Lunch program, the PTF raised more than $200,000 to fund educational student programs through the PTF Grants Enrichment program

Mr. Moseley and Executive Director of Advancement Jonathan Tufo addressed the membership and thanked Mrs. Ainsworth and the many volunteers for their efforts to not only put on memorable community-building events, but to do so under tough circumstances that often required pivoting.

Mrs. Ainsworth then passed the torch to the 2022-2023 board, including the formal swearing in of incoming PTF President Jessica Klausner and president-elect Crista Martin.

Thank you PTF for an extraordinary year of creativity, service, fellowship and support of St. Margaret’s!
