Celeste Taylor Vaults Her Way Into Next Weekend’s CIF State Championships

Taylor cleared 11'9" in the pole vault at the CIF Masters this past Saturday.
Celeste Taylor performed brilliantly at the CIF Masters Meet on Saturday, May 21, clearing every bar on her first attempt, which had her tied for first. Taylor would then clear 11'9" in her first attempt to become the lone leader and once again break her own school record for the third time this year. She would come close to clearing 12'3" but finished fourth place, securing her spot in the State Championship. Celeste is the fifth person in St. Margaret's program history to qualify for State Championship competition.

"Celeste has always proven to rise up to the occasion, and Saturday was no different. She has this competitive but poised side of her that makes her so extraordinary and makes it difficult for her opponents to beat her," said Tartan head coach Edgar Vazquez. "Consistency is key in the pole vault, and Celeste has been consistently getting better at the right time of the season. She flat out earned a spot in the state championship, and she is one of the best in the state, regardless of division. I have truly enjoyed watching Celeste vault this year, and being proud is an understatement."

The CIF State Championships will take place on May 27 at Buchanan High School in Clovis.
