St. Margaret's Advances to CIF-SS Div. I Semifinal with 16-11 win over Los Alamitos

The Tartans will face Foothill on Tuesday, May 10.
The Tartans’ boys lacrosse team relied on its potent offense to eliminate Los Alamitos 16-11 on Tartan Field Friday evening.
 
Despite the Griffins jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, the Tartans settled down and took an 8-5 advantage into the locker room at halftime. The second half was a bit more back and forth, but St. Margaret's never let Los Alamitos get closer than two goals before sealing the win with a score by Will Stahl with 1:42 left to play.
 
St. Margaret's was led by Matt Groeninger's five points (2g, 3a) with John Culley (3g) and Owen Binder (3g) contributing to the high-scoring affair. Riley Chester (2g, 1a), Will Stahl (2g, 1a), Austin Hicks (1g, 1a) and Makai Todd (1g, 1a) kept the Tartans on top of the Griffins all game. Defenseman Will Peffer notched a career-high two goals in the Tartan win.
 
Faceoff man Bobby Springer won 24 out of 28 faceoffs and goalkeeper Sebastien Chicas had six saves on the night.
 
The Tartans advance to the CIF-SS Div. I Semifinal, facing perennial powerhouse Foothill High School at Tustin High on Tuesday, May 10. Game time is set for 7:15 p.m.
