Alex Smith '19 Nabs Patriot League Player of the Week Honors
Smith, a Midshipman at the United States Naval Academy, had a big week on the diamond.
Alumnus Alex Smith '19 notched his third career Patriot League Player of the Week honor, helping the Midshipmen to a 3-1 record over the last week of play. Smith went 10 for 20 at the plate, producing a double, a triple, seven runs scored and seven RBIs. Against Lehigh on April 17, Smith went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs to clip the Mountain Hawks 11-4.
Smith has had a banner year at Navy, hitting .317 (38-for-120) with two triples, two home runs, six doubles and 26 RBIs. Smith has also scored 23 runs, posted a .450 slugging percentage and reached base at a .371 rate.
