Tartan Lacrosse Programs Shine at Doubleheader Event

St. Margaret's took on two out-of-area opponents Saturday afternoon.
Both boys and girls St. Margaret's lacrosse programs took on teams from outside of Orange County in a doubleheader on Tartan Field this past Saturday afternoon.
 
Girls Lacrosse
 
The Tartans defeated visiting Valley Center High School 18-5, relying on multiple goal-scorers to notch the win. St. Margaret's was led by Grace Karstetter's six goals to keep the Tartans firmly in control all afternoon. Minka Martinez added two goals and four assists, while Tessa Grosshans (2g), Lauren Lam (2g), Audrey Weiss (2g) and Avery Smith (1g) supported the Tartans scoring effort. Low defenders Mandy Taylor (2g) and Caroline Gunderson (1g) also got into the offensive mix and kept the Jaguar offense contained.
 
Head coach Megan Armes remarked, "Many of our younger players got the opportunity to step up, which also played a huge role in today's victory."
 
The Tartans will return to action at home against San Marcos High School on Tuesday, March 8 at 5 p.m.
 
Boys Lacrosse
 
St. Margaret's boys lacrosse program closed out the two-game event with a 15-5 win over Westlake.
 
Owen Binder had five goals and two assists as the Tartans improved to 3-0 on the year. Will Stahl (4g, 2a) and Riley Chester (3g, 1a) kept St. Margaret's offensive wheels turning, with Matt Groeninger (1g, 3a), Makai Todd (1g) and John Culley (1g) all contributing in the win. Face-off man Bobby Springer was 20 for 21 at the X for the Tartans.
 
St. Margaret's faces Servite on the road on Tuesday, March 8 at 5 p.m.
