St. Margaret's Cross Country Teams Advance to CIF-SS Finals

The Tartans battled all comers, including the weather, at Friday's preliminary races.
On Friday afternoon, the Tartan cross country programs won their respective heats with ease at the CIF-SS Prelims at Mt. San Antonio College. Despite the worst November heat wave seen in recent memory, the boys squad posted a 14-point win over second-place Chadwick with the girls posting a 46-point win over runner-up Aquinas.

"Our goal at the CIF Prelims is always to leverage our depth and advance while expending the least effort possible. We were aiming for second or third in both races, so it was nice to see that they could win at that effort level," said head coach Patrick Bendzick. "It takes tremendous poise, experience, and confidence to run that way, and I'm so proud of how they executed today."

Next up for the Tartans are the CIF Finals on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Mt. Sac. This event marks is the sixth consecutive trip to the finals for both teams with the girls squad the reigning CIF Southern Section Champions. Race times will be 9:05 a.m. for the boys and 10:10 a.m. for the girls.
