Girls Golf are CIF-SS Div. IV Team Champions

The Tartans overcame the weather and the competition to claim the crown.
St. Margaret's captured its first-ever CIF team championship in girls golf Tuesday, scoring a 427 at El Prado Golf Course in Chino. The Tartans had to battle dense fog in the first half of the tournament as well as edge out South Hills High School, which shot a 499, en route to the CIF-SS Div. IV title.

Gabby Eifrig continued her stellar play, carding a 78 for the Tartans' lowest score. Maddie Lewis had a fine outing, shooting an 80, while Kate Lee holed several birdies and carded an 84. Makenna Cox and Rianne Ke wrapped up an impressive 2021 campaign, carding a 90 and 95, respectively. Joy Mao overcame less than ideal conditions to become the first Tartan to record a birdie on the fifth hole, a par three.

The win marks head coach Rocky Parker's first CIF Team Championship in girls golf and his third championship overall, winning team titles in boys golf in 2004 and 2006.

"I was actually speechless and so happy for the girls," said coach Parker. "What an emotional win for such a wonderful group of incredible golfers."

Of note, Gabby Eifrig will compete in the CIF-SS Individual Final slated for Thursday, Nov. 4 at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard.
