Tartan Defense Tenacious in 55-0 Win over Calipatria HS

St. Margaret's picked up the shutout in a road win on Oct. 22.
St. Margaret's football team made the trip to Calipatria High School and came away with a solid 55-0 win on Friday evening.
 
The Tartan defense stole the show, keeping Calipatria off of the scoreboard with two fumble recoveries, an interception, two sacks and a team total of 66 tackles. Battle Gideons (3 tackles) and Kai Todd (2 tackles) contributed a fumble recovery each while cornerback Drew Otto brought down an interception.  Andrew Miehe (4 tackles) recorded a sack with Benton Barlow (2 tackles) and Sebastian Chicas (5 tackles) combining for one. Matthew Arena led the Tartan defense with eight tackles, with Trey Kingsley (6 tackles) and Will Viola (5 tackles) followed close behind.
 
Offensively, the Tartans were led by running back Benton Barlow's 103 yards rushing with one touchdown scored and Derek Smith's three catches for 47 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Max Ruff was 4/5 for 53 yards and two touchdowns. Sebastian Chicas (3/24 2 TD) and Matthew Arena (9/72 1 TD) were shifty in the backfield all evening.
 
Placekickers Sean Olvera-Harle (3/4 PAT), Nathaniel Kim (3/3 PAT) and Marisol Guillena (1/1 PAT) were clutch all game.
 
The Tartans look to close out the regular season with a win, facing Rancho Christian on the road on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
