Emily Morton '13 Named St. Margaret's Equestrian Coach

Morton joins the Tartan athletics staff effective immediately.
St. Margaret's is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily Morton '13 as head equestrian coach.
 
Dr. Morton, currently a doctoral resident in occupational therapy at Surf and Turf Therapy in San Juan Capistrano, leads therapy sessions utilizing equine movement and surf interventions in her work. Morton holds a Doctorate and a Master's of Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California's T.H. Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy.
 
Prior to her time at Surf and Turf, Dr. Morton completed various occupational therapy fieldwork assignments, including the Newport-Mesa School District, Westminster Therapeutic Residential Center and the Braille Institute.
 
Dr. Morton, an accomplished equestrian, has been riding since she was 7 years old. Dr. Morton and her horse Frysk compete in three-day eventing.
 
At St. Margaret's, Dr. Morton was a member of the Tartan basketball equestrian and volleyball teams and served as an executive member of St. Margaret's ASB. Morton also was a senior counselor for Special Camp, creating positive camp experiences for children with special needs.
 
"We are pleased to have Emily Morton join the team as our new equestrian coach," said St. Margaret's Director of Athletics Chris Nordstrom. "Her experience as a former member of the St. Margaret's Equestrian team while a student and continuing into her current profession as an Occupational Therapist will bring a vast amount of experience to the program."
 
"I am very excited to be back at St. Margaret's supporting the equestrian team," said Dr. Morton. "The school has been a big part of my life's successes, and I am glad to be able to contribute to the Tartan athletic program again."
