Tartan Golf, Tennis and Volleyball Programs Hit Mid-Season Stride

St. Margaret's continues to grind through a challenging fall season.
Girls Golf

The Tartans downed cross-town opponents Fairmont Prep 215-260 at San Juan Hills Golf Course Tuesday evening. Gabby Eifrig led the pack with a 37 while four Tartans scored in the 40s: Maddie Lewis (41), Makenna Cox (42), Kate Lee (46) and Rianne Ke (49).

With the win, St. Margaret's improves to 6-2 and 4-1 in league action. The Tartans return to the links to face Pacifica Christian at Newport Beach Golf Club on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m.

Girls Tennis

St. Margaret's defeated Pacifica Christian 15-3 at Saddleback College Thursday afternoon. The Tartans won eight of nine singles sets and seven of nine doubles set and were led by Kate Purpura and Angela Liu's singles set sweeps. On the doubles side, Rori Ghahreman and Annabel Thiel were undefeated in three doubles sets.

"It was a great team win yesterday. We had two close matches with Pacifica last year, so to see the girls come out and put up a dominating final score was really good to see," said head coach Scott Lipsky. "The team is starting to play better and better each match, and I am excited to see where we can go from here."

The 5-0 in league Tartans will travel to The Webb School on Thursday, Sept. 30 to take on the Gauls in a league match.

Girls Volleyball

The Tartans continue to roll, sweeping all league opponents over the past three games. On Thursday evening, St. Margaret's swept The Webb School in Pasternack Field House.

St. Margaret's relied on effective and steady serving by seniors Ava Lentz and Caroline Sele to seal the victory.

The Tartans next take on non-league foe JSerra on the road on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
