Tartans Triumph over Riverside Prep on Historic Evening
St. Margaret's defeated the Silver Knights 54-0.
The Tartan Football team jumped out to a quick start against Riverside Prep Friday evening, coasting to a 54-0 win.
Quarterback Jack Ruff threw for 103 yards on seven completions and four touchdowns, with brother Max contributing one passing touchdown in the win. Receivers Tyler Matthews (1 catch for 49 yds and 1 TD), Will Stahl (2 catches for 13 yds and 2 TDs), Sam Dunnell (1 catch for 8 yds and 1 TD) and Kai Todd (2 catches for 30 yds and 1 TD) led the air attack for the Tartans. Placekicker Sean Olvera-Harle was perfect from the mark, going five for five on PAT's.
History was made on Tartan Field as placekicker Marisol Guillena became the first female player in St. Margaret's football program history to score a point in a game. Guillena split the uprights and drove an extra point through in the second quarter.
Defensively, the shutout was cemented by interceptions by Tyler Matthews and Will Stahl. Trey Kingsley and Battle Gideons recorded sacks in the one-sided victory.
With the win, the Tartans improve to 2-2 on the year.
St. Margaret's will hit the road to take on St. Joseph High School of Santa Maria on Friday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m.
